Fire Wood & Stone (age 5-8): Fire, wood, stone, bone and clay are just some of the raw materials that we will explore with to craft cool things during this week of camp. In this camp, your child will have the chance to learn about and use many different natural materials, many of which can be found out on the land, all while leaving ample opportunities for playing games and having fun.
ForestCraft (age 9-14): Building on concepts and techniques introduced in Fire Wood & Stone, older campers this week will have the opportunity to make and use handmade primitive type tools, work on more advanced projects using natural materials, and dive deeper into the art of responsibly utilizing the forest to make crafts. Activities campers have done in the past include cordage/rope making, basketry, clay harvesting and use, spoon carving, bone needle making, coal burned bowls, and more!
Camp Intentions:
– Responsible harvesting of raw materials
– Crafting and making cool objects that can be brought home
– Safe tool/fire use
– Learning about the resources available in the woods
– Practicing ancient techniques still used today
This is a high focus, medium energy camp week, best suited for campers who want to spend lots of time making things!
Once a program fills, please join the waitlist. We will do our best to open an additional session based on demand. Learn more about scholarships and payment plan options.
