Two Coyotes Wilderness School is seeking new board members who believe that education, land relationship, and community care are inseparable.
Our organization supports children, families, and mentors in developing deep ecological awareness and a lived sense of belonging within the web of life. The board stewards the long-term health of this work and helps guide the organization as it grows with integrity.
We are looking for people who can think broadly, listen deeply, and act with care for both human and more-than-human communities.
Board members at Two Coyotes are caretakers of a living mission.
We are especially interested in people who:
– Feel accountable to the land and the future generations who will inherit it (nonprofit governance, finance/budgeting, environmental work)
– Understand community building as a practice that requires humility, courage, and repair (fundraising, grant development, land stewardship)
– Are willing to examine systems of harm and participate in transforming them (community partnerships)
– Can help expand who has access to nature connection programs (communications, storytelling)
– Are able to support the organization with time, strategic thinking, and advocacy (organizational strategy)
– Are alumni of our program or family members of alumni (personal connection to our mission)
We welcome people from many backgrounds, especially those whose perspectives have historically been underrepresented in environmental education and justice spaces.
Serving on the board includes:
– Participating in strategic planning
– Supporting organizational sustainability and fundraising
– Acting as ambassadors in the wider community
– Helping ensure the organization remains with its values as it grows
Expectations of Commitment
– We hold monthly meetings, for which materials are reviewed in advance
– We participate in occasional staff-board, staff-parent working groups
– We attend a small number of community events and advocate for our school!
We encourage each board member to take stewardship of a particular area of board collective responsibilities in tandem with staff and other board members— no one does this work alone. Responsibility is shared and should be sustainable.
Above all, we seek individuals who are committed to learning alongside others and helping steward a school where land connection, mentorship, and community responsibility are practiced daily.
